Are you stuck in a funding rut and can’t figure out how to pay for the assistive technology (AT) you need? Neighborhood Legal Service, Inc.’s National Assistive Technology Project (NATP) just might be a resource for you. I have been assisting people in obtaining assistive technology (AT) funding for nearly two decades and have found the products and information from NATP to be of great benefit! Their documents have not only helped me find new and creative AT funding resources, but they have also provided education on what these sources will and will not fund.
Their Funding of AT Series includes four, well written manuals that cover topics such as Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, and AT & Transition. This Series also includes a very interesting manual on “Using Creative Alimony, Child Support and Property Settlements to Maximize SSI, Ensure Medicaid Eligibility, and Create Funding for Assistive Technology”.
Their Did you Know? Series has even more AT funding resources on topics such as charities/grants, Medicare, and Workers Compensation. In addition, they also provide information on underutilized (in my opinion) and new forms of AT funding such as Blind and Impairment-Related Work Expenses, PASS Plans (Plan for Achieving Self Support), and Adoption Assistance.
