Once in a blue moon I stumble upon a website that becomes my go-to when searching for programs or services for people with disabilities. Dol.gov houses information on programs and services available through the U.S. federal government to people with disabilities. It is a one-stop site I use as a starting place when educating myself on different topics for people with disabilities including:
- Civil Rights
- Community Life
- Emergency Preparedness
- Assistive Technology
Keep in mind all of the resources listed are federal programs and services, and each state may provide more programs and services through local government or nonprofits. Often I am able to find more resources and programs locally by starting at this site. It gives me clues for key words to use in search engines, plus each resource provides contact information in case I need extra help finding what I am looking for.
Sometimes you don’t know what you’re looking for until you find it – and dol.gov is a website that opens doors to find what you’re looking for.
